Law Enforcement and First Responders

The United States Coast Guard visited Marshall Islands Jan 8-11, 2019 and conducted an Exercises Capacity Building Seminar. The team had conducted a seminar focused on drills in October 2018 and returned to continue the series. The Coast Guard Officers are International Port Security Specialists and they travel worldwide ensuring compliance with the InternationalShip and Port Facility Security Code, an international agreement to ensure that the world’s ports are secure against terrorism. 25 leaders from the Marshall Islands participated in the seminar, from multiple agencies. It was highly successful, with participants first learning how to design a tabletop exercise, which is discussion based. They successfully designed and executed two tabletop exercises evaluating security measures in the Port of Majuro.

“The event was an excellent opportunity for multiple interagency partners to continue their work together, which is very important since all responses to incidents require a great deal of cooperation”…..Graig Reilly, CDR – United States Coast Guard
